HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF – HOW YOU CAN HELP

Episcopal Relief and Development: Response to Hurricane Sandy

Episcopal Relief & Development has reached out to local partners and will continue to stand with them as they assess needs in and develop response strategies to the storm, which ravaged the Caribbean, East Coast and Central New Jersey, caused record flooding in some areas and left an estimated 6 million people on the Eastern Seaboard without power. Gifts to this fund will support relief and recovery efforts in both the Caribbean and the US as our partners respond to Superstorm Sandy. Donate at www.er-d.org or by check to:

Gift Cards for Hurricane Sandy Survivors, Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey

Gift cards for clothing, food, and rebuilding are flexible tools that our sister congregations in the Diocese of NJ can use to help respond to the continuing needs of Hurricane Sandy survivors. Gift cards fill the gap between institutional providers (FEMA and American Red Cross) and the emerging needs of people as they relocate to or from shelters, rebuild, and try to restore a semblance of normalcy in their lives. Here is how you can help. The Diocese of New Jersey has established a network of parishes to serve as emergency relief centers. It recommends two of them as in special need of our gift cards:

ASBURY PARK:

Trinity Church
503 Asbury and Grand Avenues
Asbury Park, NJ 07712
732-775-5084

PERTH AMBOY:

St Peter's Church
188 Rector Street
Perth Amboy, NJ 08861

Gift cards from Lowe's, Home Depot, Target, Wal-Mart, and gas stations are most useful. Volunteers at these churches will determine need, and distribute cards accordingly. Gift cards may be in any denomination. For example, you could choose to provide five $20 gift cards, or one $100 card. Send the cards to churches listed above.

St. Paul’s New Scrip Program is a perfect opportunity to purchase store cards for Hurricane Sandy victims and support St. Paul’s at the same time! Visit the Scrip table after church on Sunday mornings to place your orders.
