At Services Worship
Altar Guild members prepare the altar for every service and reset or clear it afterward. They maintain the altar supplies and keep them clean. The Guild does semi-annual deep cleaning and polishing of the worship space.
Greeters are the first face you see upon entering the church, welcoming you to the service.
Ushers perform a variety of duties to help the service go smoothly, including greeting and providing a bulletins, collecting the offering, and guiding attendees to the communion rail.
Lectors read the appointed lessons and lead the psalms and Prayers of the People.
Acolytes carry the cross and torches in the procession and recession, and assist at the altar.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers are licensed members who serve the chalice to communicants.
Technicians stream both our Sunday services. Each Sunday, we use a Mevo operator and a video editor to send our livestream to our YouTube Channel and Concord TV.
During the week
Front Desk Volunteers greet people, answer phones, and perform other various tasks.
Ministry of Presence volunteers make pastoral visits (visiting our sick and shut-in parishioners), send cards and notes, and maintain our prayer list.
Chapter Two Thrift Shop volunteers work sorting clothes and assisting shoppers.
Food Pantry workers stock shelves while the pantry is closed, serve clients when it is open, and help with food pickups and unloading.
Open Church Volunteers sit in the sanctuary from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. so that the church can be open to the public.
Garden Helpers keep the grounds looking good during the summer time.
Special Occasions
Family Promise happens four times a year at St. Paul’s Church. During the week that SPC hosts, volunteers are needed to prepare and serve dinners, and to spend the nights with the guests.
In the Episcopal tradition, the lay leaders at St. Paul’s play an important role in the life of our congregation. We are very much a spiritual community and our strength is built on our members’ participation. This extends not only to our outreach efforts and governance of our parish, but directly to the altar where lay ministers perform a variety of duties in support of our worship together. If you would like to participate in one or more of these ministries, please speak to Fr. Jean or one of the wardens.
